Establish A Daily Routine
If you’re on my website, its probably because something I’ve written or said resonated with you.
You want to be more then you are. You can feel the greatness inside of you. Dying to get out.
It’s not the things that we do once that lead to our ultimate victory or defeat.
It’s the things we repeatedly do. The habits we repeatedly sow. Day after day, week after week, year after year.
Habits take a lot less mental energy and fuel out of our tank then doing something for the first time.
We can either use this to our advantage or our detriment.
It becomes an advantage if your habits serve you.
It becomes a detriment if you have bad habits.
Small battles won compound into a war won.
Small defeats compound into inevitable defeat or mediocrity.
A small defeat could be something as simple as hitting snooze on an alarm, having a donut, watching a movie instead of getting to work or wasting time when you should be
A small victory usually involves self denial of a non-productive or self-harming activity , or forcing yourself to work on something that will pay off even if you may not want to.
Sooner or later, these wins or losses stack up and snowball.
Having a productive, familiar routine will allow you to save valuable time.
Instead of having to spend time thinking and working, you will work from a routine instead of a habit.
Either your habits and routine serve you, or you serve them.
If you live an unstructured life that is not consistent and lacks any sort of routine, you will waste precious time. You will be less efficient then you could be.
You will get less from your day then you could.
Compound a wasted day into a wasted year and you’ve got a recipe for a wasted life.
I will establish a consistent, daily routine that allows me to be more productive and get FROM my day instead of THROUGH my day.
My Daily Routine:
1)I will wake up at 5:00 AM sharp. I will immediately stand up and get out of bed.
I will make my bed first, before doing anything else. I will not hit snooze. I will immediately brew 5 cups of coffee.
While the coffee is brewing, I will immediately shave my face and take a 5 minute shower.
2)I will then take 300mg of Adrafinil with the coffee because stimulants make me more productive and focused.
I will pull out a pen and paper. I will immediately figure out what the biggest priorities and goals for the day are.
3)I will write down and establish a clear list of the 5 most important tasks to be accomplished for the day. If I finish all tasks, I will generate a new list.
4)I will head to my 24/7 gym and do an hour of cardio on the stair-master or elliptical. This will get my brain blood flowing and improve cognition and productivity and burn stubborn belly fat.
5)I will get to work on the most important high value task on my list. I will work off my list instead of losing my focus to random distractions.
6) If I have to work, I will be well dressed and ready to go at least an hour before I must drive/commute.
7)A messy or cluttered workspace leads to a messy life. A messy life involves disorganized thoughts and unclear priorities.
If my place is dirty, I will prioritize cleaning over everything else until the place looks acceptable.
8) I will avoid pointless distractions. I must be a producer, NOT a consumer. Consuming is for the mediocre masses. Creation is for winners.
9) I will keep my morning meals light and protein based. I will not go heavy on the carbs in the morning, except to sweeten my coffee with milk, creamer and sugar.
I will stick to protein rich staples I love like eggs, egg whites, turkey bacon and deli meat.
I will avoid or delay lunch as long as possible because I know my productivity takes a large hit after a carb heavy meal.
10)In the evenings, I will stop wasting time on pointless distractions when tired. Evenings will be used to lift weights.
Rather then lift weights in the morning/afternoon and be tired for the rest of the day, I will lift weights at night.
11)I will PRIORITIZE my sleep hygiene.
I will avoid my smart phone before bed. I will make sure to use all sleep quality improving methods. I feel several times more productive after a good nights sleep.
Good sleep is the difference between winning and losing.
My godlike sleep routine involves ZMA, Breathe Right Strips, Mouth Taping and A CPAP Stay tuned for an upcoming article on how to get GODLIKE sleep. I’ve used ZMA religiously for years now and swear by it. I can always remember when I’ve forgotten to take ZMA because I wake up feeling like a dead zombie.
I MUST remember to implement all parts of my sleep routine. Good Sleep = Productive Day. Poor sleep equals sleepwalking through the day, and falling behind in the rate race. I know this routine will be hard. Most things worth it in life will be hard.
These things are all stuff I already generally did, but I don’t do ALL of them on a day. Therein lies the issue. You have to make all your good habits a consistent daily habit. Consistency is key.
Small, consistent day to day progress is better then falling behind and then having to work overtime at the last minute in a failed attempt to catch up. Having your actions align with your values is absolutely critical to success in life.
There is nothing worse then knowing you aren’t living up to the standard you’ve set for yourself. Set high standards. Respect your time, energy attention and money and make the most out of every minute, hour and day. Establish a daily list of good habits and then act in direct accordance with that list for the next 30 days.
The rewards will be well worth it.
